Lunar Asylum was one of the original Goa Trance bands in the UK in the early 1990s.

Formed by Paul Greendale and Chris Stevenson in West London, they founded Sirius Records, a key label in the emerging Goa/Psy-Trance scene, to release their own music.

Further singles followed on Transient, Phantasm Records, Celtic, and Psychic Deli.

Other tracks were licensed for compilations on Phantasm, Aquarius, BMSS, Spirit Zone, Transient, FM Records, Matsuri, MDMA Records, Celtic, and Distance to Goa.

Phantasm released their self-titled album, which included tracks by Van Halen, Vanishing Point, and Twister.

Now firmly established, concerts followed in Estonia, Denmark, Switzerland, Portugal, the UK, Belgium, and Israel. But in 1998, Paul and Chris decided to move on to other projects.

Paul then worked with John Ford of Phantasm Records under the name Evil Genius, releasing an EP on Berlin’s Spin Twist Records, and with DJ Ashley Casselle under the name Ashtrax.

He has now relaunched Lunar Asylum as a live act, and his recent bookings have included shows in Greece, Belgium, Portugal, Spain, and Switzerland, with regular bookings in India and Israel.

Lunar Asylum had a name and reputation in the old-school UK acid goa-trance scene of the 90s!

Their music was filled with TB303 sounds, crazy melodies, and raw, funky modified synths!

Paul is now based in India and has performed in Indore, Bangalore, Goa, and Kasol, including shows at Magic View, Old School Festival, Moses’ Trip, Newton, Pirates of Parvati, Freedom Festival, and Magica 2024.

He is currently writing a brand new Lunar Asylum album, Total Internal Reflection, featuring collaborations with John Ford (Phantasm Records), DJ Naacal (604 Freaks), and Indian flautist Abhi Shakti (The Pirates of Varanasi), and a new single will be announced soon.
