SUMMARY:Boom Festival
DESCRIPTION:Boom is a dynamic and evolving system, embracing both the world and the universe. Over the years, we have distilled the essence of our festival into nine foundational principles:Alternative CultureActive ParticipationCreativityInterdependencePeaceLoveOnenessSocial AwarenessSustainabilityAs we approach our 30th anniversary in 2027, we encapsulate our Guiding Vision, in one sentence: Transform People, Regenerate the EarthThis is our master vision.May our festival serve as an inspiring beacon of light for the planet, humanity, and all living beings, without exception. Named after the Sanskrit word for compassion, the Boom Karuna Project was conceived in 2014 with the intention of sharing a part of Boom’s revenues with the local Idanha-a-Nova community. During the 2018 edition of the festival, we were able to go beyond the local area, distributing €40,000 to several different projects including an international home-schooling campus in Idanha-a-Nova, the Kosmicare Association and Castelo Branco wildlife recovery centre CERAS. In each edition, we share resources with those dedicated to social transition. Currently, 1% of our EBITDA is donated to external organisations.Funds have also been distributed to projects Fundação Álvaro Carvalho, AERID (a centre for children with physical disabilities), the Idanha-a-Nova firefighters, and to the NGO Missão Dimix, which promotes education through art for children and teenagers living in the African island of São Tomé & Príncipe. Supporting Missão DimixYoung children were introduced to the concept of recycling waste that is washed up onto the shores of the African island of São Tomé & Príncipe. Once collected, recycled plastic was transformed into bricks to be used in construction after they were processed by a plastic recycling machine. A total of five days were spent working with children, teaching art through recycling and learning how waste can be used as a resource. From making baskets to growing vertical gardens from old plastic water bottles in which seeds were planted for aromatic plants – local children and adults learned new ways of using waste as a resource. The Karuna Project continues to be a crucial strategy for promoting social sustainability. We’ll keep you posted about projects we support via our newsletters, so do please stay connected to learn more about this plan. The Ritual of Dance Our movements are drawingsColoured by the spirit. It’s the dance. This noble art, this ceremonyThis means that connects our body and spirit. It’s sacred, it’s healing, it’s ritual, It’s powerAnd it’s joy.Dance knows when to be a tool for resistance and when to tell stories. It’s traditionbut also revolution. Through dance, we ascend to the highest statesof consciousness. It is beyond worlds. It is deep connectionTruthful communicationWithout words. In dance, we surrender. We are music and vibration. On a dance flooramong a community,at the same rhythm,we belong to something bigger… The unity with the universe.Dance reveals our essence.Complex, divine, the full spectrumin every beam of light. When we dance our movements bring us fully into the present moment. It is unity.Alignment.It is a direct pathway to the state of flow.In dance we are pureExpression. The Ritual of Dance is the Theme of Boom Festival 2025.
